Brasilia – Deputy electoral prosecutor Eugênio Aragão has asked the Federal Police to investigate suspicions of fraud in the signatures of supporters of the Solidarity party. In an opinion sent today (23) to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Aragão reported that there are indications of fraud that could compromise the party's registration. To contest next year's elections, the party needs to be approved by the TSE by October 5th.
According to the deputy electoral prosecutor, the fraud involves the Union of the Legislative Branch of the Union. He claims that some employees deny having signed the forms supporting the Solidarity party. Aragão also cites irregularities in the electoral offices of Suzano (SP) and Várzea Paulista (SP). "These circumstances would demonstrate the real possibility that a public employees' union was used to fraudulently create support forms," alleges the deputy prosecutor.
According to Eugênio Aragão, the evidence of fraud could jeopardize the Solidarity party's registration request with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court). "Confirmation of the facts in question, especially by the electoral offices of Várzea Grande and Suzano, could demonstrate the occurrence of mass fraud in the state of São Paulo, a circumstance that could irreparably compromise the registration of the requesting party," he argued.
The Solidarity party's registration request was made on June 25. Federal deputy Paulo Pereira da Silva (PDT-SP) is one of the founders of the party. According to information provided to the Electoral Court, the party obtained 503 signatures from supporters. Even with the request for investigation, the registration should be analyzed tomorrow (23) at the TSE session.
