"Lira manages to be worse than Eduardo Cunha," says Glauber Braga.

Lira once again escalated his rhetoric against the Lula government, this time pressing for the resignation of the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha.

247 - Federal deputy Glauber Braga (Psol-RJ) compared, via X, formerly Twitter, this Tuesday (6), the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), to his predecessor Eduardo Cunha, who orchestrated the 2016 coup that led to the overthrow of President Dilma Rousseff (PT), in an impeachment process without a crime of responsibility.

"I thought I'd never say this: Arthur Lira manages to be worse than Eduardo Cunha," Braga posted. Lira, who controls a large part of the Chamber of Deputies, has been pressuring President Lula (PT) to dismiss the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha (PT). If Lula does not comply with the request, Lira threatens to create significant obstacles for the federal government in Congress throughout 2024. Furthermore, he wants the support of the Lula government – or at least the president's neutrality – to elect someone of his preference as president of the Chamber next year.
