247 - Party leaders of the Joint Budget Committee (CMO) meet this Tuesday (11) to try to overcome the impasses and enable the voting on the Union Budget for 2025. The meeting takes place under the coordination of the rapporteur of the text, Senator Angelo Coronel (PSD-BA), who should present adjustments to his report and negotiate the necessary cuts with the committee leaders, according to Metropolis.

Discussions regarding the Annual Budget Law (LOA) should have been concluded last year, but have faced successive postponements. Among the main obstacles is the need for budget cuts, the details of which still depend on an official letter from the federal government indicating where the reductions will be applied.

Another factor that contributed to the delay in the vote was the approval of the government's fiscal adjustment package and the debate over the allocation of parliamentary amendments, an issue that reached the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to define the criteria for their transfer.

The Union Budget follows a legislative process that begins in the Joint Budget Committee (CMO), composed of senators and representatives, before being submitted to the plenary of the National Congress for analysis in a joint session. After approval, the text is sent for presidential sanction.

While the Budget Law (LOA) is not yet approved, the federal government operates with a monthly release of 1/12 of the projected budget, a measure that ensures the functioning of public administration but limits the execution of new investments and programs. The expectation is that the vote will be concluded by the end of next week, allowing for greater predictability in the country's financial planning.
