247 - Senator Edison Lobão (PMDB-MA) and the CEO of Odebrecht, Marcelo Odebrecht, testified at the Federal Police headquarters in Brasília this Monday (18). Investigated by the STF (Supreme Federal Court) on suspicion of involvement in the Petrobras corruption scheme, Lobão provided clarifications regarding accusations made by the former director of Supply at the state-owned company, Paulo Roberto Costa, who says he ordered the delivery of R$ 2 million to Roseana Sarney's campaign, at Lobão's request, in 2010.

According to the senator's lawyer, Antonio Carlos de Almeida Castro, known as Kakay, the deposition lasted about two hours, and the senator denied the accusations. Kakay also stated that the parliamentarian was questioned by police about his alleged participation in a holding company based in the Cayman Islands. In a case pending in the Federal Court in São Paulo, a former partner of the company Diamond Mountain stated that Lobão is a silent partner in the holding company. Because he has parliamentary immunity as a senator, the part of the investigation related to Lobão was sent to the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The court gave Lobão 20 days on Wednesday to respond to the suspicion of a silent partnership.

Marcelo Odebrecht was questioned in the investigation into Senator Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR), who was also identified by informants as a beneficiary of the embezzlement at Petrobras. The construction company, through its press office, stated that the testimony was prompted by Gleisi's declarations that she had solicited campaign donations from Odebrecht in 2010. According to the company, Marcelo Odebrecht confirmed that companies within the group contributed financially to various political parties, including the PT.
