247 - A note published in the Expresso column of Época magazine reveals that Joaquim Barbosa received R$ 60 for a lecture paid for with public funds. Read below:

Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Joaquim Barbosa received R$ 60 for a one-hour lecture he gave on April 13th in the city of Itajaí, Santa Catarina, on the topic of Ethics and Administration.

The city council covered the expenses – including travel, security, and lodging – by delegating the hiring of Barbosa to a third party. Barbosa imposed conditions in the contract to accept the invitation.

Among these are the confidentiality of the fee charged for the lecture and the freedom to refuse to answer questions deemed "inappropriate." "Patrimonialism is part of our DNA," Barbosa declared.
