Brasilia – The Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, today (6) sent to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) an opinion in favor of the immediate arrest of federal deputy Pedro Henry (PP-MT), sentenced to seven years and two months, for passive corruption and money laundering, in Criminal Action 470, the mensalão process.

In his opinion, Janot states that the parliamentarian's sentence should be executed immediately because there are no appeals against the convictions, and Henry is not entitled to an appeal for review, the next stage of appeals in the process. He obtained three of the four votes needed to have his appeals considered.

Regarding the loss of office due to the conviction, the prosecutor argued that the removal should be automatic, according to the decision of the full Supreme Court. According to Janot, the loss of office is a mandatory and inseparable effect of the criminal conviction.
