The appearance of Renan's ally before the CPI could intensify the fight with Cunha.

With the support of the opposition, the president of the Petrobras CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry), Hugo Motta (PMDB-PB), an ally of Eduardo Cunha, intends to summon Renan Calheiros' political protégé, the former president of Transpetro, Sérgio Machado, to testify. In testimony in the Lava Jato investigation, former Petrobras director Paulo Roberto Costa said that Renan received bribes from companies contracted by Transpetro. This new impasse could intensify the fight between members of the PMDB party.

247 The already tense relationship between the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, Eduardo Cunha and Renan Calheiros, respectively, could take a new turn this week.

The leadership of the Petrobras CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) intends to summon an ally of Renan, the former president of Transpetro, Sérgio Machado, to testify.

In his testimony in the Lava Jato corruption investigation, former Petrobras director Paulo Roberto Costa said that Renan Calheiros received bribes from companies contracted by Transpetro, through Machado, who allegedly delivered R$ 500 to him. Cunha and Renan are the targets of investigations into the scheme at the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

The summons has the support of opposition parties and the chairman of the committee, Hugo Motta (PMDB-PB), an ally of Cunha.
In recent days, the differences between Cunha and Renan have become evident since Renan's statement against the bill that allows for the expansion of outsourcing in companies.

Cunha went so far as to threaten the Senate president, saying that he could retaliate in votes on matters of interest to senators if he delayed the processing of the outsourcing bill: "If the Senate can hold up bills, the Chamber can hold them up too," Cunha threatened.
