Government opens competition for architects.
The Federal District Government (GDF) launched a nationwide public competition to select new ideas for the implementation of parks and buildings in the Federal District; improvements will be implemented in the cities of Sobradinho, Gama, and Paranoá.
Brasília Agency – The Government of the Federal District launched this Wednesday (25) a national public competition with the objective of selecting architectural and landscape projects for the implementation of parks in the cities of Sobradinho, Gama and Paranoá.
The competition will also select projects for the Agricultural Exhibition Center in Planaltina, and for the renovation of the headquarters building of the Secretariat of Housing, Regularization and Urban Development (Sedhab), located in the South Commercial Sector, in Brasília.
To provoke new ideas. This was the main reason highlighted by the Secretary of Housing, Geraldo Magela, for launching the competition. The public selection of architects and landscape designers will be carried out by the Brazilian Institute of Architects – DF Department (IAB/DF).
Public contest
The competition will be held in one stage, in which contestants will be ranked up to third place. Each participant may compete in both areas.
The technical teams ranked 1st in each subject/theme will formalize a contract with Sedhab for the preparation of the executive project and complementary projects. IAB/DF will provide technical support in the review of the deliverables.
Following the signing of the contract, a schedule will be drawn up establishing deadlines for registration, judging, awarding of prizes, and other phases for the implementation of the projects.
Judging Commission
Two separate judging committees will be formed: one responsible for evaluating park projects and the other responsible for evaluating building projects. Each of these committees will consist of five full members, all architects, three of whom will be appointed by the IAB (Brazilian Institute of Architects) and two by Sedhab (State Secretariat for Housing and Urban Development) – the secretariat must appoint an architect from the Administrative Region (RA) of the submitted project for one of its positions, with the exception of the Brasília RA, which will be represented by two architects from Sedhab.
The IAB jury panel will be appointed by architects from all over Brazil, and will consist of professionals knowledgeable about the competition regulations of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the IAB, and who have distinguished themselves through the quality of their professional work.
