247 The president made a point of rehiring waiter José da Silva Catalão, who served Lula and Dilma and was fired in May 2016 by then-interim president Michel Temer.

The appointment of Catalão to the position of assistant to Lula's personal office was published this Wednesday (18) in the Official Gazette and is signed by the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa. The information is from Uol.

Catalão built a very close relationship with Lula during his second term and also served President Dilma Rousseff. However, he was dismissed by Temer because the former president suspected that he was passing information to Dilma, who was removed from office after a coup.

"In 2016, Catalão even asked to be reassigned to another area of the Palace upon learning of his dismissal, but he failed to convince Temer's team. According to a report in Folha de S. Paulo, there was suspicion that he was passing information to Dilma's team, who were removed from office after impeachment proceedings were initiated," the text highlights.

Despite his closeness to the president, Catalão has always made it clear that he has no ties to the PT.
