247 - Giuliano Manfredini, son of the author of the singer and composer Renato Russo (1960-1996), asked the PPS to remove from the party's blog the parody of the song "Eduardo e Mônica" posted last Monday (7), which mocked the alliance between Governor Eduardo Campos and former Senator Marina Silva. The parody was taken down this Friday, 11.

Through his lawyer, Luiz Edgard Montaury Pimenta, Manfredini sent an extrajudicial notification to the PPS party at 15 PM this Friday, demanding that they remove the parody from the air within 48 hours. The party did so in less than three hours. "We removed the parody (...) at the request of Giuliano Manfredini, out of respect for the work of his father, Renato Russo, an idol to us all," the blog reported.

"We are not evaluating the political aspect, regardless of who created the parody. It has two problems: its offensive nature towards someone, whoever that may be, and its similarity to the original version," said the lawyer. "Of course, there are parodies whose censorship is not justified. Each case is different. In this one, if the party did not comply with our request, we would go to court," he stated.

"It was just a humorous critique, we didn't intend to offend anyone, and this controversy is unjustified. But we respect Renato Russo, which is why we took the parody off the air," said federal deputy Rubens Bueno, leader of the PPS in the Chamber of Deputies.
