Forum Magazine - Congressman Marco Feliciano (PSC-RJ) and six other congressmen from the evangelical caucus went as a delegation to the Museum of the Republic, in Brasília, this Wednesday (13), with the aim of demanding the cancellation of an exhibition about the coups of 1964 and 2016.
The evangelical caucus piggybacked on the Free Brazil Movement, which, after demonstrations bordering on Nazi-fascism, managed to pressure Santander to cancel the "Museuqueer" exhibition in Porto Alegre (RS).
At the Museum of the Republic, however, this should not happen again. At least that's what the museum's director, Wagner Barja, assured in an interview with Fórum. According to him, there is no possibility that any work or exhibition will be removed or canceled.
"The policy here is that whoever enters the museum has to leave changed. A museum is not an amusement park. It's meant to unsettle, to make you think," he stated.
According to Barja, the evangelical deputies did not speak directly with him, but rather with a mediator from the museum who, according to him, explained to the parliamentarians the origin and purpose of those works and that they would not be censored.
“This type of visit is not welcome. We have a solid foundation for what we are doing. I'm not here playing at running a museum. If they came here with their families to enjoy the exhibition, they will be welcome. But, in this manner, with the aim of censoring, we will not accept it,” Barja concluded.
Feliciano had been keeping quiet after being sued by Patrícia Lelis and accused of attempting to abuse and assault her. Apparently, the proximity of the election campaign and the opportunity to ride the fascist wave of the MBL made him come out of hiding.
