The seizure occurred during the execution of warrants in Operation Venire, which investigates a scheme to falsify Covid-19 vaccination certificates.

      The Federal Police seized US$35 in cash from the military officer's home. The money was kept in a safe.       Rodrigo Roca, Cid's lawyer, spoke on the 4th – one day after the soldier's arrest – about the money found: “This money doesn't come from underwear or suitcases, it comes from work. It's a known fact that every soldier who goes on a mission abroad has a bank account opened in their favor at Banco do Brasil in Miami. Their salaries are deposited there, and this was immediately proven. This money shouldn't even have been seized.”

      Mauro Cid is being held at the Brazilian Army Police Battalion, under 24-hour surveillance. He is housed in a room measuring just over 20 square meters, with a barred window and a bathroom. The room also has a single bed, a side table, and a closet, according to Fantástico.
