Brasilia 247 - A leading figure in the administrative structure of the Attorney General's Office, prosecutor Zani Cajueiro, 47, resigned from the General Secretariat of the Public Prosecutor's Office because, according to her, she did not adapt to the "centralizing" style of the Attorney General, Raquel Dodge.
This is the second resignation from the administration in 42 days, the first from Dodge's inner circle. Prosecutor Alexandre Camanho, a longtime close associate of Dodge, has been appointed to replace Cajueiro.
Last Wednesday (25), Cajueiro asked to leave the General Secretariat after facing internal criticism for speaking out against transferring the Civil Servant Day holiday from Saturday (28) to next Friday (3).
The Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) and the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) decided to move the date to create a long weekend for the All Souls' Day holiday. Cajueiro's position reportedly bothered PGR (Attorney General's Office) employees and led Dodge to question it.
"That was one of the things that happened. In fact, [the departure is due to] her way of managing the house, which is quite centralized, and I don't agree with it. More delegation [autonomy] is needed for the secretary-general," he stated.
The Secretary-General of the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is responsible for managing the budget of the entire institution (approximately R$ 6 billion this year), which includes the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Federal District and Territories, and the Labor and Military Public Prosecutor's Offices.
The position of secretary-general is seen as strategic for those aspiring to become attorney general, as it provides visibility within the institution. According to career members, Camanho aims to position himself to succeed Dodge in the future.
