The politician was referring to the position of superintendent of the Secretariat of Federal Assets and was trying to nominate Francisco Nilo Gonsalves Júnior, a former advisor in his office, for the role.
"This is ours. I'll put whoever I want here, whatever watermelon I want, I'll put it here," the senator says in the recording.
The recording was made this Tuesday (2) at the SPU-DF headquarters. In the released excerpts, José comments on the nomination of a former cabinet advisor, Francisco Nilo Gonsalves Júnior, for the position of superintendent of the district agency. "He [Júnior] has a side. His side is Senator Hélio José, who is responsible for the SPU from today. From today, the SPU is my responsibility, Senator Hélio José's, office 19 of the [Teotônio Vilela] Wing," says the senator, referring to the room he occupies in the Federal Senate.
