It will support academic studies and contribute to the development of public policies related to land use.

The website allows users to track the evolution of a specific plot of land over the last 30 years, information that facilitates, for example, the development of environmental projects. Technicians can also observe the process of occupation, in areas of native forest, of agricultural and livestock activities. The website was created by Codeplan technicians and did not incur any extra costs for the government.

Greater ease in organizing the territory.

The work of verifying changes through a historical series will also help in the defense and organization of the Federal District's territory. "It will allow, for example, public managers to better plan the urban expansion of an area and understand how it has interacted with the local vegetation in recent years, among other relevant aspects," highlighted Cristina Rossetto, Manager of Statistics, Demography and Geoinformation at Codeplan.

According to the company's president, Lucio Rennó, the intention of Brasília em Mapas is to serve as a facilitating platform for Executive branch agencies. "We have high expectations regarding the information available and the positive impact it will have on various areas of government," he said.
