Legislative Chamber of the Federal District - Deputy Arlete Sampaio (PT) defended on the floor, during an ordinary session of the Legislative Chamber this Wednesday (6), the results achieved by the Bolsa Família program. According to the parliamentarian, her statement was motivated by a question received yesterday about what the exit strategies for the program would be.

Arlete presented some data to demonstrate that the public policy is an example of income distribution and reinforced its positive impacts on society. According to her, the program currently benefits 13,8 million people, at a cost of R$ 24 billion, which represents only 0,46% of the Union Budget. Studies indicate, according to the district representative, that every R$ 1,00 invested in the program generates R$ 1,75 back into the government coffers.

"The resources used in the program are not expenses, but rather investments," the congresswoman justified. Regarding exit strategies from the program, Arlete highlighted that it is up to Brazilian society to create opportunities for beneficiaries to have the means to improve their social standing. "Unfortunately, the reality in many Brazilian cities does not present any alternatives for thousands of people," she stated.

Representative Prof. Israel (PV) highlighted that Bolsa Família also generated positive impacts in curbing immigration to large cities.
