Brasilia 247 - Candidates for governor of the Federal District Rodrigo Rollemberg (PSB) and Jofran Frejat (PR) participated last night (9) in the first debate of the second round, promoted by TV Band. Comfortable with the opinion polls that place him in the lead, the senator emphasized the programmatic zeal and the set of proposals for the DF, while Frejat went on the attack.

With a certain degree of aggression, the former health secretary questioned the integrity of Rollemberg's alternate in the Senate, Hélio da Silva Lima, a figure known in the political underworld by the nickname Hélio "Gambiarra" (roughly translated as "Makeshift"). A union leader and former PT (Workers' Party) official, he is now affiliated with the PSD (Social Democratic Party). "Gambiarra" was accused in 2010 by Rollemberg himself of sexually abusing a niece. Despite this, he remained as an alternate.

Frejat also compared Rollemberg to Governor Agnelo Queiroz (PT), who came in third place in the elections, and questioned what his opponent had produced of significance for the Federal District over the past 20 years. "I helped bring resources to the University of Brasília in Ceilândia, Gama, and Planaltina; I brought resources for the duplication of the BR-020 highway; I fought for the Clean Record Law," Rollemberg cited. Frejat countered, "It's normal for a congressman to allocate resources to Brasília. Any congressman has the power to allocate funds to specific areas. I have concrete projects underway. I restored health four times," Frejat retorted.

The candidates debated public health, discussed the financial situation of CEB (Companhia Energética de Brasília), the issue of land regularization in the Federal District, and aspects of the GDF's (Government of the Federal District) management. Regarding CEB, both promised to recover the company. Frejat attributed the responsibility for the problems experienced by the energy company to Governor Agnelo Queiroz (PT), who came in third place in the elections, but Rollemberg did not miss the opportunity to capitalize on the issue. "CEB began to decline during the Arruda administration, with a voluntary dismissal program without planning. We will recover our companies. At Novacap, we will have a portfolio of projects that will allow us to seek investments," he said.

In a poll released yesterday by the Veritá Institute, Rollemberg reaches 61,7% of valid votes in the second round against 38,3% for Frejat.
