Cost in Brazil: Former PT treasurer is the target of an arrest warrant.

Former PT treasurer Paulo Ferreira is one of the targets of Operation Custo Brasil, launched this Thursday, the 23rd, by the Federal Police, regarding an alleged scheme of bribery payments related to IT service contracts with the company Consist, amounting to approximately R$ 100 million. The Federal Police attempted to execute an arrest warrant against Ferreira, but reportedly did not find him. Speaking to the newspaper O Globo, Ferreira stated that he is at his residence in Brasília and has already spoken with lawyers about the situation; "I will attend to any request (from the police). I am at my home in Brasília. I am calm," he affirmed.

The Federal Police attempted to execute an arrest warrant against Ferreira, but reportedly did not find him. Speaking to the newspaper O Globo, Ferreira said he is at his residence in Brasília and has already spoken with lawyers about the situation. "I will comply with any request (from the police). I am at my home in Brasília. I am calm," he stated. 

The operation led to the arrest of former Communications Minister Paulo Bernardo. In total, the operation involves 65 court orders in São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Pernambuco, and the Federal District. Of the total warrants issued this Thursday, 11 are for preventive detention, 40 for search and seizure, and 14 for coercive questioning, where the person is taken to give a statement.
