Candidates to preside over the Chamber of Deputies have pending legal issues.

Of the six leading candidates to succeed the ousted congressman Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), four face some type of legal proceedings, one was cited in the Lava Jato corruption scandal, and the sixth no longer faces legal action because the crimes he was accused of have expired, according to a survey by the newspaper "Estado"; among them are congressmen Rogério Rosso (PSD-DF), Beto Mansur (PRB-SP), and Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ).

Among them is the candidate from the "Centrão" bloc, Congressman Rogério Rosso (PSD-DF), who is under investigation for embezzlement and has been indicted for corruption.
Beto Mansur (PRB-SP), first secretary of the Chamber of Deputies, has the longest list of pending legal issues among the 16 surveyed. He has already been convicted and is facing charges for exploiting labor analogous to slavery on a farm in the interior of Goiás.
