Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Federal District approves R$ 35 billion for 2014.
The Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance of the Legislative Chamber approved a bill that estimates the revenue and sets the expenditure of the Federal District for the fiscal year 2014; the Annual Budget Law project foresees a budget of approximately R$ 35 billion, of which R$ 23,3 billion will be spent on the operation of the public administration, the payment of salaries of local public servants and investments in public works.
Legislative Chamber of the Federal District - The Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance (CEOF) of the Legislative Chamber approved this Tuesday (10), in its last ordinary meeting of the year, bill no. 1.634/2013, which estimates the revenue and sets the expenditure of the Federal District for the fiscal year 2014. The Annual Budget Law (LOA) project foresees a budget of approximately R$ 35 billion, of which R$ 23,3 billion will be spent on the upkeep of the public machine, the payment of salaries of local public servants and investments in works.
Initiated by the Executive, the matter is to be considered in plenary on Thursday (12), the last voting day before the legislative recess.
According to the proposal, approved by the committee with approximately 680 parliamentary amendments, R$ 11 billion of the total estimated budget for 2014 will come from the Federal District's Constitutional Fund; that is, it will be transferred by the Union to the federative unit. This amount will be used to fully maintain the public security area and to partially pay salaries in the education and health sectors.
Of the total expenditure estimated in the 2014 Budget Bill, approximately R$ 18 billion is expected to be used for salary payments, while approximately R$ 5 billion will be allocated to infrastructure projects and investments.
Varied Agenda – The CEOF deputies also approved several other bills at today's meeting, including Bill No. 1.717/2013, from the Executive Branch, which amends Law No. 4.895/2012, which estimated the DF's budget for 2013. With amendments from the commission's deputies, the proposal included R$ 3 million to be applied in 2014 for the hiring of 147 public defenders who passed the competitive examination. A group of successful candidates attended the meeting and celebrated the result.
The committee also approved Bill No. 1.732/2013, from the GDF (Government of the Federal District), which includes the motorcycle taxi service within the Federal District. In addition, Bill No. 248/2011, from Representative Chico Vigilante (PT) and others, was approved, mandating the participation of employees on the boards of directors of public companies and mixed-economy companies in the Federal District, their subsidiaries and controlled companies.
