247 - A report prepared and presented this Thursday, the 19th, by the president of the Human Rights and Minorities Commission of the Chamber (CDHM), Deputy Padre João (PT-MG), contains a list of 40 initiatives that threaten human rights in the National Congress.

The list was compiled in partnership with the Laboratory for Media and Public Sphere Studies at UERJ and with support from the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST), Conectas Human Rights, and the Inter-Union Department of Parliamentary Advisory (Diap).

Some proposals were already approved in 2016, while others are still under consideration. All of them, in some way, represent setbacks to basic societal rights, such as the elimination of labor rights and restrictions on inspections against slave labor.

The document will incorporate an addendum from the president of the CDHM and the president of the Parliamentary Front in Defense of Human Rights, Deputy Erika Kokay (PT-DF), to Brazil's Universal Periodic Report to the UN.
