Amid crisis, Attorney General's Office wants to unify Lava Jato.

247 - With the crisis surrounding Operation Lava Jato, the Attorney General's Office (PGR) is considering creating a new body to unify the operation's task forces. However, this unification has generated distrust among members of Lava Jato, according to the newspaper. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) has opened an investigation into the visit of Deputy Attorney General Lindora Araújo to the Lava Jato task force in Curitiba to obtain confidential information. Responsible for the operation at the Attorney General's Office (PGR), her visit caused a stir. crisis that has already culminated in the departure of three members from the working group at the Attorney General's Office.

On Thursday, the 25th, the Lava Jato task force in Curitiba sent an official letter to the MPF's (Federal Public Prosecutor's Office) internal affairs department accusing the deputy prosecutor of wanting access to confidential data from the operation and of inspecting the team's work without the internal affairs department's approval. 

This Sunday, the 28th, Augusto Aras stated that the Lava Jato is not an autonomous operation. From the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office: “Operation Lava Jato, with its successes recognized by society, is not an autonomous body distinct from the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF), but rather an investigative front that must obey all the internal principles and norms of the institution. To be a legally active body, it would need to be integrated into the institutional structure and organization established in Complementary Law 75 of 1993,” he said. 

Lindôra Araújo withdrew his candidacy for the Superior Council of the Attorney General's Office (PGR)., which deliberates on the management of the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF).

"Colleagues, due to numerous activities I have been carrying out, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the CSMPF representing the deputy prosecutors' college," Lindora wrote in a message sent on the internal network this Sunday.

Lindora coordinates the Lava Jato task force at the Attorney General's Office and is trusted by Attorney General Augusto Aras, who supported her candidacy.
