- The Court of Auditors of the Federal District has ordered two filmmakers to return funds received from the Department of Culture of the Federal District through the Art and Culture Fund (FAC). A total of R$ 116.927,65 must be returned to the government. The deadline for payment is 30 days from the date of publication in the Official Gazette of the Federal District.
Marcelo Barbosa da Silva must return the amount of R$ 70.014,78 (still subject to monetary adjustment) for failing to account for funds transferred to him in 2002. The funds were intended for the production of a short film called "Isabele". The accounting should have been done by July 2003.
José Pedro Gollo received R$ 35.000,00 in 2004 for the production of the short film "Eu personagem" (I, the Character). He was supposed to account for the use of the funds by November 2005. The Special Accountability Commission established by the Secretariat of Culture highlighted that "Mr. Gollo did not prove to the Film and Video Center the production and execution of the film and, furthermore, declared that he did not have copies of the film on VHS, DVD, or in 16mm or 35mm format." The filmmaker must reimburse R$ 46.912,87, also subject to adjustment.
Both individuals were convicted in absentia, as they did not respond to the summonses that were sent to them.
