247 - The cardiologist of president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and member of the government transition team, Roberto Kalil, ruled out this Wednesday (7), in a meeting with Lula, any possibility of taking over the Ministry of Health in the PT's third government.

According to a report by newspaper According to O Globo, Kalil told Lula that he has other priorities. “I want to make it clear that my Ministry of Health will be the Heart Institute and my private clinic. My ministry is Incor and the patients; I would never abandon that, they are my life. But I am at a point where I think I can contribute a lot. The subject of a ministry was not brought up, and even if invited, I would not have accepted,” said the doctor.

As part of his contribution to the Lula government, during the meeting the cardiologist delivered a partial report containing suggestions for the Ministry of Health.

The document was prepared by a group of doctors appointed by Lula to form the Health Task Force. The group includes names such as Drauzio Varella; the pulmonologist Carlos Carvalho, from USP; the president of the board of the Albert Einstein Hospital, Cláudio Lottenberg; the director of the Kidney Hospital and professor at Unifesp, José Medina Pestana; and the director of the Cardiovascular Surgery Division of Incor, Fábio Biscegli Jatene.
