Agency Board - The Consumer Protection Committee of the Chamber of Deputies will hold a public hearing next Tuesday (23) on a possible price fixing between airlines and the alleged merger of Gol and Azul.

The debate was requested by deputies Aureo Ribeiro (Solidariedade-RJ) and Daniel Almeida (PCdoB-BA), and will be held from 14 pm, in a plenary session to be defined.

PGR Complaints

In 2023, the Attorney General's Office (PGR) forwarded complaints to the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) that Gol and Latam were charging identical prices on the country's main air routes.

"If the suspicions are confirmed, Cade would have to find a way to regulate the airlines," says Aureo Ribeiro.

Fusion

Daniel Almeida wants to discuss the possible merger of Gol and Azul, which, according to him, could concentrate approximately 60% of the market.

The legislator states that the civil aviation market in Brazil already exhibits typical oligopoly characteristics. "In addition to significant barriers to entry for new competitors and the loss of important operators over the past few years."
