According to the Director of Legislative Police, Paul Pierre Deeter, there was a need for increased policing "due to the presence of radical groups." The directive also includes the requirement for officers to appear in uniform and wearing bulletproof vests or exoskeletons, carrying "lethal and non-lethal weapons and using equipment appropriate to their role." 

"Considering the civic-military parade on September 07th - Independence Day, with a forecast of social demonstrations with a large number of people, including the presence of radical and extremist groups, in the vicinity of the National Congress," the text says.
