Caixa ended the month of December 2024 with a balance of R$ 832,1 billion in its mortgage loan portfolio. The amount reached is 13,5% higher than the level of December 2023, as highlighted in a balance sheet released this Wednesday (26), in the capital of São Paulo.
An analysis of the entire year of 2024 indicates that mortgage loans totaled R$223,6 billion, a 20,6% increase over 2023. Last year's figure is a record. In total, Caixa financed 803,4 properties, enabling 3,2 million people to acquire their own homes.
Another result highlighted by Caixa was that of savings, an indicator capable of broadening the perception of aspects such as how Brazilians are handling money and whether they have been able to save. In December 2024, deposits in savings accounts increased by 7,5%, generating a balance of R$ 385,4 billion.
The balance sheet presented by the institution reveals that total payroll loans granted that month were R$101,5 billion. One of the current discussions is offering this option to private sector workers, already available to public employees and retirees.
The president of Caixa, Carlos Vieira Fernandes, emphasized that, initially, 40 million people are eligible for approval under the loan program and that this option is also important because it reduces operating costs. "We are just waiting for the regulations," he stated.
Fernandes celebrated the financial institution's performance and commented on the bank's digital transformation. According to him, the current phase involves the reorganization of branches, something that is being done gradually, according to identified needs.
He said the plan is simply to redistribute units to locations with more customers and not lose sight of the bank's social vocation, which is to serve beneficiaries of federal government programs. In 2024 alone, R$ 404,1 billion was paid to people registered in these programs, with R$ 163,3 billion from Bolsa Família and R$ 5,6 billion to students enrolled in Pé-de-Meia.
"We're even going to grow a little," Fernandes assured, when questioned about Caixa's expansion prospects in 2025.
