Barroso says it's "frightening" to see acts in support of the dictatorship: "they dream of a past that never existed."
A Supreme Court Justice spoke out against the car parades calling for AI-5 this Sunday, the 19th, but said nothing about Bolsonaro's gesture, who gave a speech and supported the group from Brasília.
247 - Supreme Court Justice Luís Roberto Barroso criticized the demonstrations that took place this Sunday, the 19th, in various cities across the country, in defense of the military dictatorship and the AI-5.
"Only those who have lost faith in the future and dream of a past that never existed can wish for military intervention. Dictatorships come with violence against opponents, censorship, and intolerance. Good people who love Brazil do not want that," he wrote on Twitter.
"It's frightening to see demonstrations calling for the return of the military regime after 30 years of democracy. Defending the Constitution and democratic institutions is part of my role and my duty. Worse than the cries of the wicked is the silence of the good (Martin Luther King)," he also posted.
Barroso, however, made no mention of Jair Bolsonaro's speech to one of these groups in Brasília, where he declared "I believe in you" and "we don't want to negotiate anything," in addition to encouraging the gathering of people in the midst of the quarantine.
