247 - Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the removal of the electronic ankle monitor from Rieny Munhoz Marçula, a defendant in the proceedings related to the coup attempts of January 8, 2023.
The decision, taken on June 18, was made public this Monday (23). The magistrate justified the measure due to the high-risk pregnancy that the accused is facing.
Marçula, who has been on provisional release since 2023, faces charges for five crimes:
- Coup d'état;
- Armed criminal association;
- Attempt to violently abolish the Democratic Rule of Law;
- Deterioration of listed heritage;
- Aggravated damage involving violence and serious threats against federal property.
Precautionary measures maintained:
- Nighttime and weekend curfew;
- Obligation to appear in court when requested;
- Prohibition from leaving the country (passport cancelled);
- Restrictions on the use of social media;
- Prohibition of communication with others involved in the case.
