After a R$1 million renovation, Lira evicts the government leadership and transforms the space into a personal office.

The government leadership was transferred to the Afonso Arinos wing of the Senate, far from the Chamber's plenary hall, where congressional sessions are held.

247 - The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), claimed for himself the office that housed the government's leadership in Congress. According to the Folha de S. Paul"The government leadership in Congress, with its entire structure and advisors, was moved to the Afonso Arinos wing of the Senate, which is about a three-minute walk from the Chamber's plenary hall, where congressional sessions are normally held. Some of the advisors didn't fit there and were temporarily relocated even further away, to the 25th floor of one of the congressional towers."

According to the report, the location is situated a few meters from the House plenary, unlike the parliamentarian's former office, which is located outside the main Congress building and connected to it via an underground passage. The renovation cost approximately R$ 1 million and provided "a reception area, offices, a meeting room, restrooms, and a restricted room on the lower level, known as the 'confessional'."

According to the Chamber's press office, the administration "traditionally makes offices available in the main building for parliamentarians who hold or have held the presidency of the House, a situation that includes the current president," and that Lira will occupy the space soon after "the environment is adapted for the new purpose."
