A man of approximately 25 years of age invaded, this Wednesday (5), the Cantinho Bom Pastor daycare center, in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, killing four children and injuring three. The Civil Police reported that the author of the attack was arrested after turning himself in at the police station in the region.
Local authorities are considering suspending classes and have asked the public to avoid seeking information via social media to prevent fake news from causing panic. The request stems from rumors of attacks at other schools, which have not yet been confirmed.
Condolences
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva offered his condolences on Tuesday (5) to the families of the victims of the attack that took place at a daycare center in the city of Blumenau, in Santa Catarina.
"There is no greater pain than that of a family that loses their children or grandchildren, even more so in an act of violence against innocent and defenseless children. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and the community of Blumenau in the face of the monstrosity that occurred at the Bom Pastor daycare center," the president posted via his Twitter account.
Lula then said that "for any human being with Christian feelings, a tragedy like this is unacceptable, such behavior, such an absurd act of hatred and cowardice."
