247 - The president of the National Congress, Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), spoke out on Twitter this Sunday (4) after the decision by Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, of the STF, which suspended the law that creates the national minimum wage for nursing.
The minister gave states, municipalities, and the federal government 60 days to report on the impacts the text will have on the financial situation of cities and states, the employability of nurses, and the quality of healthcare services. He argued that the minimum wage puts the "survival of numerous hospital institutions" at risk.
"The national minimum wage for nursing professionals, created in the National Congress, is a fair measure aimed at a group of professionals who distinguished themselves during the pandemic and whose salaries are absurdly underestimated in Brazil," wrote Pacheco.
"On behalf of Parliament, I will immediately address the paths and solutions for the implementation of the minimum wage before the Supreme Court, since the issue has been taken to court and there has been a decision by the eminent Minister Luís Roberto Barroso," assured the President of the Senate.
"I have no doubt that the true desire of the Three Branches of Government is to uphold federal law while simultaneously preserving the financial balance of the health system and federated entities. Through dialogue, respect, and intelligence, we will find a swift solution to this," he concluded.
