The host of the coup, Heráclito, asked Machado for R$ 3 million.

In a section of his plea bargain testimony for the Lava Jato corruption investigation, Sérgio Machado states that in 2006, when Heráclito Fortes presided over the Senate Infrastructure Committee, he requested R$ 3 million to "make life easier" for Transpetro. The company was attempting to approve an increase in its debt, and Heráclito was creating obstacles. The informant claims he then sought out PSDB senator Sérgio Guerra, who died in 2014, to intervene, and was told that the committee president "would only put the matter on the agenda with illicit advantages paid in the form of electoral donations."

The company was trying to approve an increase in its debt, and Heráclito was creating difficulties. The whistleblower then claims to have sought out PSDB senator Sérgio Guerra, who died in 2014, to intervene.

Guerra told Machado that the commission's president "would only put it on the agenda if it involved illicit advantages paid in the form of electoral donations."

According to him, the final amount was R$ 2 million, of which R$ 1 million would go to Guerra. Heráclito only received R$ 500 and went back to collect the debt in 2014.
