247 - The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) will open a center to combat disinformation, to act against the dissemination of fake news during the electoral period. The information was published this Sunday (10) by Globo News.
Organizations such as the Federal Police and the Supreme Federal Court, in addition to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), are investigating fake news schemes and attempting to create mechanisms to combat so-called digital militias.
The production and dissemination of fake news gained attention mainly after the 2018 election, when it became widely reported in the press that there was a fake news scheme involving then-candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and his allies to destabilize political opponents.
Currently, the former president is ineligible to run for office because he questioned, without evidence, the security of the Brazilian electoral system against fraud. The Federal Police are also investigating the existence of a coup plot that had the dissemination of fake news as one of its purposes.
