Temer and Moreira remain silent on Eduardo Cunha's questions.
Eduardo Cunha's (PMDB) questions to his former ally Michel Temer regarding Temer's knowledge of, and possible participation in, bribery negotiations involving Minister Moreira Franco in FI-FGTS investments seem to be heading towards oblivion; if it depends on Temer and Moreira, the matter is already buried; contacted by 247, neither Michel Temer nor Minister Moreira Franco, of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, wanted to comment on the content of the questions; among the questions, Cunha asks Temer, listed as his defense witness, if he "has knowledge of any offer of undue advantage, whether to Érica or Moreira Franco, or subsequently for the release of FI-FGTS financing."
247 - The questions posed by the ousted and imprisoned congressman Eduardo Cunha (PMDB) to Michel Temer regarding Temer's knowledge of, and possible participation in, bribery negotiations involving Minister Moreira Franco in investments from the FGTS Investment Fund seem to be heading towards oblivion. Temer was listed as a defense witness for Cunha in the criminal case concerning his alleged involvement in a scheme to divert funds from the FI/FGTS.
If it depends on Temer and Moreira, the matter is already buried. The two were contacted by... 247 to comment on the content of the questions and what lies behind Eduardo Cunha's insinuations. Neither Michel Temer nor Minister Moreira Franco, however, responded to the questions.
In total, he formulated 19 questions. In one of them, he asks the president: "Are you aware of any offer of undue advantage, either to Érica or Moreira Franco, or subsequently, for the release of financing from FI/FGTS?". According to journalist Fernando Brito, the Érica mentioned may be journalist Érica Fraga, Michel Temer's ex-girlfriend and mother of one of his children – born in London.
"Since she is one of the coordinators of an account for the Secretariat of Communication of the Presidency of the Republic, paid for by a contracted company, it will not be difficult to find her there at the Planalto Palace and ask her if she knows anything about it," Brito questions.
In questioning Cunha, whose potential for harm to Michel Temer was solemnly ignored by the press that supported the coup and sustains the government, the former congressman also asks if Temer nominated his current Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency for the vice-presidency of Caixa Econômica - Moreira held the position between 2007 and 2010 in Lula's government.
Relationship with BJ
Cunha questions his defense witness about whether she held any meetings with Moreira and André de Souza, former advisor to the fund, to discuss requests for financing from FI-FGTS, or whether Temer participated in meetings with Léo Pinheiro (OAS) and Benedicto Júnior (Odebrecht) to discuss campaign donations.
In a plea bargain testimony to the Lava Jato operation, Benedicto Barbosa Silva Júnior, or BJ, former president of Odebrecht Infraestrutura, recounted a meeting with Michel Temer, Moreira Franco, and Eduardo Cunha. (The column...) Radar The magazine Veja reports that they discussed Caixa Econômica Federal (a Brazilian bank) and the election campaign.
In addition to him, Michel Temer has already been mentioned 43 times in the plea bargain testimony of executive Cláudio Melo Filho, a lobbyist for the construction company in Brasília, for having requested R$ 10 million at Jaburu Palace (read here).
