Temer says PMDB remains loyal to the government.
According to the vice-president, contrary to what has been reported in the press, the party "has not failed" and is one of the main allies of the Executive branch; Michel Temer participated in a ceremony in the Senate commemorating the party's 46th anniversary.
Agency Brazil - Vice-President Michel Temer (PMDB-SP) said today (14) that his party has remained loyal to the federal government in votes on matters fundamental to the execution of public policies. According to him, contrary to what has been reported in the press, the party "has not failed" and is one of the Executive's main allies. Temer participated in a ceremony in the Senate for the party's 46th anniversary. "To give some examples, it is enough to mention the massive votes of the PMDB on the 2012 minimum wage and the General Law of the World Cup," said the vice-president.
Michel Temer also emphasized that the actions of the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPMI) on Cachoeira will not hinder voting in either the Chamber of Deputies or the Senate. The group is investigating the relationships between illegal gambling businessman Carlos Augusto Ramos, arrested in Brasília, and public and private officials.
Cachoeira's testimony at the CPMI is scheduled for tomorrow (15). Lawyer Márcio Thomaz Bastos, who defends the businessman, told Agência Brasil over the weekend that his client will invoke the constitutional right to remain silent, should the Supreme Federal Court (STF) reject the habeas corpus request to suspend Cachoeira's appearance before the CPMI, until the defense has full knowledge of the documents.
