Temer criticizes the early start of the election.

"I think we should have left it until the end of this year or the beginning of next year. The election year is 2014, not 2013," said Vice-President Michel Temer during the launch of his book of poems in Rio de Janeiro; according to him, the early start of the presidential race caused a ripple effect in the states.

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 12 (Reuters) Vice President Michel Temer criticized on Friday the anticipation of the 2014 presidential race being moved to this year, involving the PT, PSDB, PSB, and the fledgling Rede party.

"It's regrettable that it started so early now," he told reporters after the launch of his poetry book, "Anonymous Intimacy."

In February, during the celebration of the PT's 10 years in power at the federal level, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva presented President Dilma Rousseff as a candidate for re-election.

At the same time, Senator Aécio Neves (MG), the likely PSDB candidate for President, seeks to consolidate his name among both members of the party and the opposition, while the governor of Pernambuco and president of the PSB, Eduardo Campos, has been rehearsing an electoral speech amid growing expectations that he will launch his candidacy in next year's election.

The picture is completed by former senator Marina Silva, who came in third in the 2010 presidential election with almost 20 million votes, and is seeking to establish a new party, Rede, in order to run for president again.

According to Temer, the early start of the presidential race caused a ripple effect in the states.

"I think we should have left it until the end of this year or the beginning of next year. The election year is 2014, not 2013," Temer declared.
