Tebet: 'Protecting Amendments are an attack and affront by Congress and do not serve the Brazilian people'
Planning Minister says proposal causes outrage
(Reuters)- The Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, said this Wednesday (17) that the so-called Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) of Shielding, in the final phase of approval in the Chamber of Deputies, is an attack by the National Congress and does not serve the interests of the Brazilian people.
In a seminar about risks to public finances related to lawsuits, Tebet stated that the proposal is causing outrage and asked the Senate to block the measure, which she described as an affront.
On Tuesday night (16), the Chamber approved in the second round the base text of the PEC that provides for authorization by the Chamber or the Senate for the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to prosecute deputies or senators.
The members of parliament will still analyze amendments to the text before it is sent to the Senate for a vote.
