Tebet meets with Alckmin and Lula to finalize support.
A conversation with Lula will determine whether his support for his candidacy will be 'critical' or accompanied by broad participation in the campaign. The announcement will take place at 16 PM.
247 - Senator Simone Tebet (MDB-MS) is meeting this Wednesday (5) with former president Lula (PT) to formalize her support for the PT candidate in the second round of the presidential election. The meeting takes place one day after Tebet spoke with former governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) on Tuesday (4). The MDB announced neutrality and released the directorates to position themselves as they wish. The information is from newspaper The globe.
The conversation between Lula and Tebet should determine whether the support for the Workers' Party candidate will be merely formal and critical, or whether it will be accompanied by broad participation in the campaign. According to the report, Tebet is expected to speak later today in a press conference. There is an expectation that Lula will be by her side.
Alckmin acted as an intermediary between Tebet and Lula, as the two had no prior relationship. The former governor of São Paulo and the senator share similar political views, and Alckmin is seen as the figure who best represents the democratic center in the Workers' Party candidate's campaign.
From the MDB side, the expectation is that in today's conversation the senator will clarify points such as her potential participation in the PT government, should Lula win the election. Furthermore, it is expected that with the delivery of her government plan, the PT will incorporate some of Tebet's proposals.
