Agency Brazil – The president of the Senate, José Sarney (PMDB-AP), arrives today (14) in São Paulo to be admitted to the Sírio-Libanês Hospital. According to the senator's press office, he felt a strong headache and decided to have a check-up.

Sarney has already left Brasília, but there is still no information about his admission to the hospital. The press office of the Sírio-Libanês Hospital said it will only comment after the senator arrives.

There is no word on how long Sarney will remain in São Paulo, nor on what medical tests he will need to undergo. The Senate president and former president of the Republic is 81 years old and one of the oldest members of the National Congress. Sarney was also governor of Maranhão, the state where he was born.
