São Paulo – Senator José Sarney (PMDB-AP), 83 years old, arrived at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, in São Paulo, at around 13:40 pm today (31). The information was confirmed by the hospital's press office.
Sarney, who had been hospitalized since the early hours of Sunday (28), at Hospital UDI, in São Luís, for treatment of a lung infection, was discharged early this morning.
At the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital, the senator is expected to undergo a series of tests, but this information has not been confirmed by the hospital's press office. The Syrian-Lebanese Hospital has not indicated whether a bulletin on the senator's health status will be released today.
A politician and writer, José Sarney, from Maranhão, has been in public life for 60 years. He was governor of Maranhão, president of the Senate, and president of the Republic from 1985 to 1990. Author of several books, Sarney is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters.
