Lira's resistance to Renan Calheiros leads the Presidential Palace to sound out Eduardo Braga to report on the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CMPI) of January 8th.

The senator from the MDB party, however, is resisting the idea. His associates believe he would be more useful to the government behind the scenes.

247 - The Planalto Palace is already seeking an alternative to the nomination of Senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) as rapporteur for the CPI on Bolsonarist Terrorism, due to resistance from the Speaker of the House, Arthur Lira (PP-AL). informs The newspaper O Globo.

It's worth remembering that Lira is a political opponent of Calheiros in Alagoas.

>>> Arthur Maia says his name is being considered to chair the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the coup attempts.

Senator Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM) is being considered for the position, but he seems to be resisting the idea of being part of the commission. His associates even believe he would be more useful in the government's behind-the-scenes coordination.

Although some parties have already announced their choices for the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry), others will only decide on the names they will nominate next week, when the CPI will be installed.

The government has influence over two party blocs that can nominate 12 senators, but the number may be lower depending on the leaders' choices, since some parties have internal divisions. The União Brasil party in the Senate, for example, is in a pro-government bloc but includes opposition figures, and the party is entitled to two nominations that will only be decided after the May 1st holiday. The Republicanos party in the Chamber of Deputies also faces a similar scenario.
