Senate Agency - Senator Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL) presented, this Tuesday (12), a request to the Senate Board asking for the creation of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry to investigate the payments of super salaries, above the constitutional ceiling, for civil servants and employees of the direct and indirect Public Administration of all Powers and independent bodies, including public companies and mixed economy companies. The CPI also aims to study the possibility of restitution of these amounts to the Treasury by the beneficiaries.
"This isn't against Power A, nor against Power B, nor against Power C. It's a general rule. We have to stand up. At a time when Brazil doesn't have the money to keep universities running, at a time when Brazil is cutting funding for science and technology, at a time when Brazil is announcing—the Minister of Planning announced—that it is about to stop paying salaries and pensions, how can we afford to pay salaries of R$200, R$300, R$400? This is an outrage, a mockery. This cannot continue to happen," he stated.
Renan reported that the request already has the signatures of almost 50 senators. Among the supporters are the PT leader in the Senate, Lindbergh Farias (RJ), and Senator Hélio José (PMDB-DF), who is a tenured civil servant.
"We cannot allow this to continue, with ministries requisitioning people from state-owned and mixed-economy companies to earn veritable fortunes, while public servants are poorly paid and have terrible working conditions," he said.
