Brazilians are less likely to accept differences, according to an Ipsos survey; 32% of respondents believe it is not worth trying to talk to people who have political views different from their own.

247 - The level of intolerance in Brazil is not just a perception. The average political polarization in Brazil is currently the highest among a group of 27 countries studied by the Ipsos institute. The research was published this Sunday in the newspaper... The State of São Paulo.

According to the survey, Brazilians are less likely to accept differences: 32% of respondents believe it is not worth trying to talk to people who have political views different from their own. In this regard, the rate was surpassed only by India (35%) and South Africa (33%).

In another question, 40% of Brazilians said they feel more comfortable around people who think similarly. The rate is 42% when considering all 27 countries. For 31%, people who have different political views from their own don't really care about Brazil's future (the overall average is 29%).

Another above-average statistic was that of respondents who agreed with the statement "anyone with a different political view from mine has been deceived" – 39% in Brazil.

The Ipsos survey was conducted with 19,7 respondents aged 16 to 64 in the countries where the institute operates. The approximately one thousand Brazilians surveyed are mostly people from urban centers, with salaries and educational levels above the national average, according to the newspaper.
