PT sues Aécio for embezzlement and malfeasance.
The election campaign is heating up; the Workers' Party has just filed a criminal complaint against Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) regarding the airport built on land that once belonged to his family in the Minas Gerais municipality of Cláudio; a petition to the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, also requests an investigation into why the Minas Gerais government chose the farm of Múcio Tolentino, Aécio's uncle; Flávio Caetano, legal coordinator of President Dilma's campaign, says the complaint is "very serious" because "besides showing that there is private benefit from something that is public, there is also a connection between the company that built the airport and campaign donations to Senator Aécio"; in a statement, PSDB defended the investigation and said that the project met technical criteria.
247 - As decided yesterday, the PT (Workers' Party) requested this Tuesday, the 22nd, that the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, investigate Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG), a candidate for President of the Republic, for the crimes of embezzlement (a crime committed against public administration) and prevarication. The complaint is due to the construction of an airport in the municipality of Cláudio, in Minas Gerais, on land that belonged to Aécio's uncle when the politician was governor of the state.
"The facts are extremely serious and deserve rigorous investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office, both at the federal and state levels, to investigate not only acts of administrative misconduct, but also any possible crimes," he stated. 247 The legal coordinator of President Dilma Rousseff's (PT) campaign, Flávio Caetano, stated that this is the most serious accusation so far in the campaign, "because in addition to showing that there is private benefit from something that is public, there is also a connection between the company that built the airport and campaign donations to Senator Aécio. So it is extremely serious."

The Workers' Party (PT) asks the public prosecutor to investigate Aécio Neves for embezzlement and malfeasance.
Party lawyers want investigation into airport built on relative's farm.
Entrefatos Editorial Staff - The PT National Directorate filed a request this Tuesday afternoon (22) with the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, to investigate the construction by the Minas Gerais government, when under the command of Aécio Neves, of an airport in the city of Cláudio, in the interior of the state. The Aécio government built an airport on land belonging to an uncle, Múcio Tolentino, and invested R$ 14 million in works on the site, in addition to determining the payment of compensation for expropriation of R$ 1 million to a relative of the governor.
The airport does not have authorization to operate from ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) and yet it operates, according to what was published last Sunday (20) by "Folha de S.Paulo". Furthermore, the newspaper discovered that the keys that give access to the runway are with the family of Múcio, who is Aécio's great-uncle. The senator and PSDB presidential candidate owns a farm six kilometers from the airport, spends weekends there, although he tried to say that the rural property is not his, and belongs only to the "estate of Dona Risoleta Neves", his grandmother.
Among the allegations made by Dilma's party is the possibility that Aécio committed the crime of prevarication, a crime committed by an authority against public administration. The petition to Rodrigo Janot asks the prosecutor to investigate the alleged irregular operation of the airport, since it does not have authorization from ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency). The lawyers also ask the Attorney General's Office to verify the violation of three articles of the Brazilian Aeronautical Code and two articles of the Law of Administrative Improbity, in addition to the crime of embezzlement, foreseen in article 312 of the Penal Code.
The Workers' Party (PT) is also asking the prosecutor to investigate why the Minas Gerais state government chose Múcio Tolentino's farm for the airport's construction. "It is noted that, if what has been reported is true, this public-private partnership dates back to the former governor's family history," points out the petition recently filed by the PT.
Yesterday (21), realizing that the matter would not be confined to "Folha de S.Paulo", the PSDB filed a complaint with the Superior Electoral Court, alleging that Aécio is suffering "persecution" from the Dilma Rousseff government, for using public resources, since ANAC stated that the operation of the runway on his uncle Múcio's farm is irregular.
