PT's statement: denunciation of new arbitrary action against Dirceu
The Workers' Party denounces yet another arbitrary act by Sergio Moro against comrade José Dirceu, who this week had his right to appeal the unjustly imposed sentence while at liberty recognized by a habeas corpus granted ex officio by the Second Panel of the Supreme Federal Court.
It is a sovereign decision of the Supreme Court, over which lower courts have no right to intervene. However, Moro, who is not even mentioned in the Supreme Court's decision, ordered José Dirceu to travel from Brasília to Curitiba by Tuesday, July 3rd, so that an electronic ankle monitor could be fitted to him. He also imposed a series of restrictions on Dirceu's movements and contacts.
Sergio Moro knows he is committing yet another illegality, so much so that, in the ruling, he stipulates that the constraints are valid "until a contrary decision."
Brazilian society rejects the authoritarian and exceptional methods of Lava Jato, which were blatantly biased against the PT, and these methods are beginning to be corrected in higher courts.
The Workers' Party stands in solidarity with our comrade José Dirceu and his family, who are about to face yet another ordeal. We are with you, comrade, in the fight for truth, justice, and democracy.
