PSDB will go to the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) to protest the Cuban's use in PT's campaign ads.

The PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) will file a complaint against the PT (Workers' Party) for using a Cuban doctor in party propaganda that aired on Thursday, the 24th, on national television; based on the Electoral Code, which considers the participation of foreigners in party activities a crime, the PSDB will request a cut in PT's propaganda in the first half of 2014.

247 - The PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) will file a lawsuit next week with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) against the PT (Workers' Party) for using a Cuban doctor in party political broadcasts that aired on Thursday, the 24th, on national television. The PSDB will request that the PT lose its right to party political broadcasts on television and radio during the first half of 2014, based on the Electoral Code, which considers the participation of foreigners in party activities a crime. They will also request that fines be imposed on the PT and President Dilma Rousseff for premature campaigning.

In the PT's campaign ad, Cuban doctor Sael Castillo, who works in the city of Poço Redondo (SE), appears attending to a patient, saying he has 25 years of experience and that he is in Brazil to "work hard".

PSDB lawyer Afonso Assis Ribeiro states that he will not request punishment for the doctor, focusing the action on the PT. “I can give the doctor the benefit of the doubt because he is a foreigner, has been in Brazil for a short time, and may not be aware of all the laws, but the PT does not have this benefit and had an obligation to know that this is not permitted,” he stated in an interview with the website Diário do Poder.

The PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) will also request a fine for premature campaigning for the sections in which Dilma cites what she considers achievements of the PT (Workers' Party) governments: low unemployment rate, opening of universities, and changes in the health system. The irregularity would have occurred because Dilma says she "will continue" acting in the directions indicated. "She goes beyond what is allowed. You can show what you are doing, but she uses the tactic to make promises in a premature campaign," says Ribeiro. The PSDB filed a similar request this week for the speech Dilma made on Monday to celebrate the result of the Libra oil field auction.

The vice-president of the PT (Workers' Party), Alberto Cantalice, attributes the PSDB's (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) action in the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) to the president's good performance in the polls for the 2014 elections. "This series of polls is leaving the opposition stunned. They want to try in every way to mischaracterize things. We are simply showing what we are doing in government," stated Cantalice.
