PSB, which questioned Lula's appointment, will not question Moreira's.

The reason, admitted with complete sincerity by the party president, Carlos Siqueira, was the impeachment; "It wasn't the fact that he was being investigated, that there was an accusation against Lula, it wasn't exactly that. What was in the background at that moment was the unviability of a government that had led the country to a monumental crisis and whose continuation was proving absolutely untenable," he said.

247 - The PSB, which challenged in court Dilma Rousseff's attempt to appoint former president Lula as Chief of Staff last year, will not challenge Michel Temer's appointment of Moreira Franco.

At the time, the reason given was that Dilma was attempting to obstruct justice by granting privileged jurisdiction to someone under investigation in Operation Lava Jato. Moreira Franco is also implicated in Lava Jato, accused of having benefited from corruption in the aviation sector.

But Carlos Siqueira, the party's national president, has now admitted explicitly that the reason for filing the lawsuit against Lula's nomination was another: Dilma's impeachment.

"It wasn't the fact that he was being investigated, that there was an accusation against Lula, it wasn't exactly that. What was in the background at that moment was the unviability of a government that had led the country to a monumental crisis and whose continuation was proving absolutely untenable," he said in an interview with Rádio Gaúcha. DCM reports.

"And bringing in a former president (Lula) to the government at that time would only have delayed a solution that was achieved with the impeachment. That's the difference, and it's very striking. There's no similarity between the two situations," he added.
