Mayor of Belo Horizonte angered by allegations about chartered flights.

Marcio Lacerda denied any irregularities in the use of private jets instead of flying commercial flights.

Visibly irritated, the mayor of Belo Horizonte, Marcio Lacerda, today again denied any irregularities in the contracting of chartered flights for official municipal trips. The mayor's expenses on this type of transportation prompted a lawsuit from the Public Prosecutor's Office of Minas Gerais, which accuses Lacerda of causing losses to public funds by not prioritizing cheaper commercial flights. The information regarding the misuse was published yesterday by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo. The mayor called a press conference to defend himself against the accusations. According to him, on the days he chartered planes, commitments in Belo Horizonte before and after the trips made the use of commercial flights unfeasible.
