Brasilia – PP and PROS formalized today (6) the creation of a party bloc in the Chamber of Deputies. Named Agenda Programática, the new bloc will have the third largest bloc in the Chamber, with 63 deputies, behind only PT, which has 88 representatives, and PMDB, which has 76.
The bloc will be led by Congressman Eduardo da Fonte (PP-PE), will operate within the government's base, and will defend 11 points. Among them are tax reform, "capable of curbing evasion, fiscal corruption, and tax fraud," the defense of the Unified Health System (SUS), the issue of urban mobility, and a new drug policy, according to the presentation letter of the Programmatic Agenda.
"This bloc will contribute greatly to important debates for Brazil, so that Brazilian society can be brought into the Chamber of Deputies," said Eduardo da Fonte. According to the congressman, the bloc's main mission will be "to provide governability to President Dilma Rousseff."
The Minister of Institutional Relations, Ideli Salvatti, who participated in the launch of the bloc, praised the initiative. According to Ideli, the important thing is the commitment to issues relevant to the country. "We will not have problems when we have disagreements, as long as we have responsibility towards the Brazilian people," said the minister.
The new bloc does not guarantee increased representation of political parties on House committees, nor does it allow for an increase in the number of positions.
